¿CÓMO SE TRATA LA GANGRENA?

El diagnóstico de la enfermedad arterial periférica (EAP) comienza con una historia clínica y un examen físico. Los especialistas en imágenes e intervención buscan signos como frialdad al tacto de los pies y las piernas, anomalías en la marcha, cambios en la piel, atrofia muscular, movimiento limitado en una o ambas piernas, hinchazón, úlceras en las piernas y pulsos en los tobillos y los pies.

¿QUÉ PRUEBAS UTILIZAN LOS ESPECIALISTAS EN IMÁGENES E INTERVENCIÓN PARA DIAGNOSTICAR LA ENFERMEDAD ARTERIAL PERIFÉRICA?

Las pruebas que pueden ordenar los especialistas en imágenes e intervención incluyen:

¿QUÉ ES UN ÍNDICE TOBILLO-BRAQUIAL (ABI) Y CÓMO SE REALIZA?

El índice tobillo braquial (ABI, por sus siglas en inglés) es una prueba simple y no invasiva que compara la presión arterial en los tobillos con la presión arterial medida en los brazos. Se puede utilizar como prueba de detección para aquellos que tienen síntomas de enfermedad arterial periférica (EAP).

Un ITB bajo puede indicar la presencia de EAP, pero no da resultados concluyentes: su médico puede recomendarle pruebas adicionales, como pruebas de ejercicio en cinta rodante y ecografías.

La medida se registra como la presión arterial sistólica tanto en el tobillo como en el brazo dividida por la mayor de las dos lecturas.

Una relación superior a 0,9 se considera normal, una relación de 0,8 a 0,89 se diagnostica como EAP Etapa 1 o “claudicación”, y una lectura inferior a 0,8 representa una obstrucción arterial grave (“isquemia crítica de las extremidades”).

¿CÓMO SE TOMAN LAS MEDIDAS DURANTE UNA PRUEBA DEL ÍNDICE BRAQUIAL DEL TOBILLO (ABI)?
